How It Works

Everything You Need to Know About Medical Weight Loss, From GLP-1 Medications and Getting Started to What You Can Expect Throughout Your Journey

  •  'Agonist' means the medication works similarly to a naturally occurring hormone called GLP-1.

  • GLP-1 is produced in the body after eating a meal.

  • GLP-1 medications are used to treat type 2 diabetes and obesity.  

  • They make you feel full which ultimately decreases hunger and cravings.​

  • They also help regulate your insulin and blood sugar levels.

  • These effects lead to weight loss.

  • Weight loss can help improve conditions that are closely related to weight: sleep apnea, high cholesterol, diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, etc. ​

Weekly injections are given using a very small needle. 

Studies indicate most patients lose 10-15% of their body weight. 

  • Common side effects include nausea, heartburn, and constipation.  

  • We will thoroughly go over these side effects with you during the consultation.

  • We will also help you throughout your time in the program with strategies to minimize any side effects that you are experiencing.

  • While this medication is used to treat diabetes, we do not treat diabetics at Emerald Aesthetics. We prefer you to be managed on this medication by your primary care practitioner or an endocrinologist. ​

  • Yes, we offer virtual appointments for Initial Weight Loss Consultations and Follow-up Appointments. ​

  •  Monday-Friday 9am-4pm. 

  • Follow-up appointments (virtual or in-person) are monthly, or more frequently if needed.  

  •

  • You will pick up your medication and supplies monthly at the office.
  • Pick-up times are available Mon-Thurs (9-5), Fri (9-4) and Sat (9-1).

  • The Weight Loss Consultation appointment costs $49.

  • Monthly plans start at $299/month.
